Kid Gavilan World Welterweight Boxing Champion

The 1950s was an era of great boxing and Kid Gavilan was one of the most talented of the welterweights. He beat Johnny Bratton on May 18, 1951 to win the welterweight title left vacant by Sugar Ray Robinson. This was an era when black and whites did not meet in the ring in states like Florida.
