A complex adventure
After finishing Pathspace I waited patiently for this sequel as I was desperate to find out what happened to the characters that I’d grown attached to. Xander of course is still going strong in his quest to pass on his knowledge, thankfully with previously reluctant characters on his side. Although I’d consider Lester the main character there are many great personalities throughout this story and the switching between perspectives brings a richness to the tale. From interesting characters to intricate ideas this book keeps you on your toes.
Mr. Kennedy definitely has a gift when it comes to writing sci-fi. An ingenious blend of real scientific concepts with fiction, the future he has painted is believable yet extraordinary at the same time. With the threat of an imminent war the fast paced ventures held my attention and I ended up reading the book in one day as I couldn’t put it down. I really liked the meaningful quotes at the beginning of each chapter as they set the tone for what was to come. I felt the ending was perfect as it wrapped up some of the more pressing matters while leaving the door open for the next book. Again I anxiously await the sequel! Tonespace sounds very intriguing.
