An original heroine, plenty of humour, and competing beaus. What more do you need?

Great is the mystery novel that keeps you guessing until the end and wanting to follow the main character as she pursues her trade. Bridget Allison's MAID FOR MAYHEM is fresh, witty, and intriguing. You will be captivated as Gretchen takes you along to her crime scenes and into the life of a spunky, intelligent, young, single woman. You'll be introduced to her friends and entertained by her delightful, unique dialogue. This is an mystery novel full of attitude and surprises. I eagerly anticipate more from Bridget Allison.

I found this to be a very entertaining mystery! The characters are interesting and accessible, the dialogue is very witty, and the plotting is clever with an effective twist at the end. I was reminded of Charlaine Harris's mysteries before she started writing the Sookie Stackhouse series, but this one is much funnier! I can't wait for Gretchen's next adventure!

Bridget Allison is the new Janet Evanovich of the South, but with her own twist. Definitely not a copycat writer...the ending was surprising as a mystery should always be. Her characters are fun and likable, with the eccentricities of people we all know and love. As I read the book, I was already looking forward to the sequel. Can't wait to read her next Gretchen Gallen mystery!
