Empowered To Help
Now you can help in emergency situations until help arrives. More
These are things you can do to help someone, but they do not replace calling 911. Call or have someone call while you are assisting, if it is needed. How do you know if it’s needed, when in doubt call. Better to have them there and not need them, than to need them and wish they were there.
A woman finds her husband face down in the bedroom. He's not breathing, he has no pulse, she turns him over and calls 911. They are coming but she doesn't know what to do now. A group of people are at a soccer game, cheering for the guy running and controlling the ball. Suddenly he falls, his team-mates run to him, he's not breathing, he has no pulse, someone calls 911 but no one knows what to do now.
A man breaks his leg while hiking alone, he ends up sitting on the side of a mountain, and waits a week before they find him. He didn't know how to get himself out of there.
Is there anything more frustrating than to be in the middle of a medical emergency, and not know what to do. To see someone whom you want to help, but have to stand there helpless, and watch them suffer or worse slip away because you didn't want to make it worse but you didn't know how to make it better. Sure you've seen it a million times on TV, people jumping in and saving the day. But when the moment comes and it's you that that needs to step up, you go blank.
Of course everyone thinks, well there will be someone who knows what to do there and I'll just help, as best I can. But that isn't always the case, and more and more people suffer or die everyday because there isn't someone to help them. But I'm too busy! I'll take a class next month! I'm not a medical person, I would just make things worse! You might be able to appease yourself with these reasons if it involves a stranger. But what if it's your spouse, your parent, or worse your child.
Well, now there is a solution. This information will help you through most of the medical emergencies you might encounter until help gets there. This won't replace calling 911, but you'll definitely be helping out until they get there. You’ll definitely make a difference in someone's life. While this doesn't make you an expert, hopefully it will give you the confidence to step up and save someone's life, maybe even your own.
