Like Pandora's Box, some things are simply best left buried or undisturbed. A compelling read with fine point of view shifts. I would suggest more spare writing. Consider dropping a few 'that's' for example. The sentences will read far more succinct. Another example, 'with the cash.' JMO but that is not necessary and the reader can figure it out. Real good characterizations and I particularly like the distancing names.
