Review by: Patrick Dowden on March 06, 2012 :
This book presents a brilliant world. The ideas here are vibrant and curious. It ends far too soon and there is a great deal of expansion that I feel could be done.
It's often hard to tell what the protagonists really feel. I suppose such is true of life at times as well. In this the author makes the reader often uncomfortable and feeling strangely lost. The characters act in ways that make you wonder what exactly is pushing them. The book feels like the second in a trilogy, we feel like there's more to come and more that we haven't been told.
A good read, but maybe a bit too difficult for the young adult. Also the book falls into the price trap that many publishers toss their e-book offerings. You can NOT charge a paperback's price for an e-book. I bought this book to support the genre, but this price model will not serve for the long term.
