I have been teaching Christian education classes for 20+ years and have read many of the "best" guides to the Bible. This book is among the best of the best because it so thoughtfully considers your understanding of god and the scriptures. It educates you by first describing the crisis of miseducation. It always comes back to the big picture so you don't get lost in small details. It challenges common assumptions and asserts the authority of the bible. It answers the tough questions and does not shy away from "touchy" subjects. This book is a bold testament to the truth in a world filled with half-truths. A fantastic read for anyone no matter where they are in their walk with God.

This helped me understand the bible and basic ideas SO much better. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

The writing is straightforward and very easy to understand. If there is a complicated idea, the author breaks it down and uses clear examples. Before I read this, I had more questions than answers. Now, all of my questions have been answered and things that I took for granted I realize I was in the dark about. This is aimed more at novices (like me) but there is plenty of meat for anyone at any level. Very nicely done.
