Ryan "Fritz" Holznagel is the winner of the 1995 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions and has appeared more than a dozen times on the show, including on the 1996 Jeopardy! Olympic Tournament, the 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions, and the 2014 Battle of the Decades.
In normal life, Fritz won an Emmy Award for scripting the CBS prime-time special A Claymation Easter Celebration. He has written for the Dictionary of American History, for CD-ROMs like Where in the U.S.A. is Carmen SanDiego? and The 20th Century Video Almanac, and is the editor of the book The World Wide Web Top 1000. He created the early online feature The Lycos 50 and also spent five lovely years on the writing team at Google.
With Paul Hehn he is the creator of the biographical guide Who2.com. The site features more than 4000 thumbnail sketches of famous people, fictional characters, and critters of all kinds. He and Mr. Hehn also created the humor site Utterly False Trivia in 2015.
Fritz attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, which gives him something in common with both Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Christie Hefner.
