Just finished reading "Heart of Gold". I did not enjoy this book at all. To me there was nothing hard-boiled to it. I thought it was slow and just seemed to drag on, not much to the story line to keep the reader interested. The characters are bland, even the main characters and the plot is boring and narrow minded. When it did finally come to a conclusion (which happened in one chapter) it seemed like it ended mid-sentence, I thought I missed a page. I think the only thing I can say good about this book is that there were only a handful of typos.
I had to basically force myself to finish this one, for sure it's going to get added to the "did not like" pile. Sorry Mr. Smith.

This is a hard-boiled mystery recommended for adult readers only. Contains mature themes, violence, profanity, drug use, nudity, and sexual situations. This book is a tingling thriller of dark secrets and complete with various characters which all could be the suspects trying to sabotage Lila Jane's escort service business. The violence intensifies, as the master private investigator tries to snag the culprit. The chivalry of gentleman protecting fragile woman is a sexual torch ready to be ignited. Waiting for that passionate kiss, but he is a knight in shining armor and treats her with respect. It has a range of who dunno it questions, a mystery that leads the reader to want to eliminate each suspect. the conclusion of the story catches the reader off guard; and leaves them wanting more. Ladies there is a love story brewing here too.Recommend for all adults who enjoy a thriller and in anticipation look forward to fast paced actions scenes with a happy ending 5 stars.
