About Kathy Rae

Kathy Rae knew from the age of eight that one day she would be an author. It took going to Fountain Hills, AZ to awaken the purpose for which she was born. "The Jewel of Hope, Book 1 of The Hope Trilogy" was birthed in her heart as she observed the statues and eight foot junk horse surrounding their man-made fountain lake.

Kathy lives in eastern Washington where inspiration for stories abound. She has taken the Institute for Children's Literature course and is a member of Jerry Jenkins Writer's Guild, the American Christian Fiction Writers and Spokane Authors and Self-Publishers group.

"A full book can be inspired just listening and watching people. The characters in my books remain in my heart because they are all bits and pieces of people I've met in my life-time," Kathy Rae says. "If I can encourage just one person to celebrate who they are because God made them to have a relationship with them, then I am blessed that they discovered that treasure in one of my books."

Super Cute Book that made me HAPPY with WARM FUZZIES!! (♥=^.^=)

I am nine years old and I like this book because it teaches to us to be happy even when something goes wrong. I really like the pictures in this book too and the little ducklings are so0o0o0o0 cute. In this story there are two duckies and they are family and they both get lost in the storm (Davie and Daffnee).

Davie and Daffnee are very very different and Davie thinks that it’s a really bad day because lots of things go wrong but the other one, Daffnee is the opposite and luckily in the end Davie finds out that there is still something good in a bad day. And if I got to choose if it was a YUCKY day or DUCKY day I would choose DUCKY DAY!!! My favorite part is when Daffnee talked about Yucky day or Ducky day and who was watching over us =) and what happened after that was awesome. Also at the end there’s questions and answers that were fun to work out.

This book is super awesome and made me super happy with warm fuzzies!! =)

Kathy Rae's latest book for children, “Ducky day or Yucky day ~ You choose,” is truly insightful and entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed the way she presented her message of having a, “Positive Attitude,” by the eye catching art work on the cover and throughout the pages, the humorous title of her book and through the characters she wisely chose to tell the story. The story unfolds with the two main adolescent ducklings, Davie Duck and Daffnee Duck being a perfect example of a brother and sister relationship at such a young age. The delightful ending has a positive effect on the whole family and ties a beautiful ribbon on this wonderful story. Many teens and adults need to relearn, “how a positive attitude shapes your world.” Congrats Kathy Rae, well done, message is loud and clear. Please keep writing this kind of book for children. Can hardly wait for the next one.

This book contrasts how different attitudes affect an individual and emphasizes optimism and how beneficial it is for a person, all in a lovable children’s story that was a joy to read from the beginning. I got this one for my daughter and the illustrations were wonderful and fit in nicely with the theme. I must admit it even helped me look on the bright side of things! Its characters were nicely written and I would highly recommend the book to other parents.

I got this one for my niece and we both enjoyed its message and story. It conveys a positive notion of having a good attitude towards things and I can see how this can appeal to many. Optimism and pessimism make a lot of difference in life and it was fun teaching the moral of this story to my niece. The story itself is funny and adorable, and the writing was definitely really good and enjoyable. An awesome book and I am so glad I found it. Two thumbs up.

Some kids, like Daffnee Duck, live life with a positive attitude. Others, like her brother Davie, let the day dictate his mood. Daffnee lives with the belief of the title "Ducky Day or Yucky Day - You Choose!". Children of all ages need to remember many of the themes in the story relating to positive attitudes. It is easy to envy Daffnee's happiness, but parents can use the title to start the family's day in the right direction. Another message is just as important, that Someone is watching over us whether it is a Ducky day or yucky day. When a day turns yucky and we start to feel despair, it makes everything better remembering that God is with us.
I read this with my seven-year old at bedtime, and we agreed to start the next morning by choosing to have a Ducky Day. She loved the illustrations, especially the mud puddle scenes, and really connected with the characters.

This is an absolutely adorable book that gives a very important message to children : the message of optimism. I purchased the book for my niece and she absolutely loved it! She makes me read it to her every single night before bed.

The story is absolutely hilarious, adorable, and witty. It's very child-friendly and has been written in a way that would appeal to every child. It shows the contrasting lives and characters of optimistic and pessimistic people. After reading the story, my niece decided that she wants to be more like Daffnee duck, the optimistic one.

This is not only and enjoyable read, but also teaches an important lesson we often forget to teach our children in today's fast-moving and competitive world. We ourselves often forget to look at the bright side of things. I would recommend this book to any child at all, as this is a very entertaining read that would be enjoyed by kids of all ages.
