About Paul Matos, Jr

I was born in New York City, but I was the son of an Army man and a wonderful loving mother. So we moved around a lot. I now live just outside Atlanta. I started my IT career in 1997 and have been loving it since. I love the fact that I can learn something new almost everyday.

My life has been blessed with mostly females. The wonderful mother I mentioned above. I have a sister who is 7 years younger but we get along anyway. I have two daughters from a previous marriage who are all grown up (mostly). My niece lived with us for about ten years. And now I am engaged to a woman who is one of the most giving, loving and beautiful people I know. And you guessed it, she has a daughter who I love as my own. She has a son also but he does not live with her. But he’s a great guy also.

I have also been working at being a writer since 2013. It has been a small dream of mine since I can remember. I finished and self-published it in October of 2014. Since then I self-published a second as a series called ‘On the Streets for…’ I use the characters name the book is about.

A good detective novel

I really enjoyed this story and all the unique characters. The chemistry between Raph and Mac is well written, you’ve got two guys who go way back and it’s apparent in their banter. With the ability to almost know what the other is thinking they make a great team and also know just how to push each other’s buttons. When their friend Sam comes to them for help finding his younger sister it looks like a simple enough case. But as soon as they start digging into Alison’s disappearance it becomes apparent there is a lot more going on than first meets the eye and things escalate very quickly. I liked the supporting cast of characters (James, Toni, Annabel, and Alex are some of my favorites), they all have a lot of heart and personality. I look forward to book 2, in which I’m hoping some of these characters make appearances, maybe it will be about another case that Mac and Raph are working on?

A nicely paced PI tale. Two tough guys working together decide to help a former navy comrade find his missing college student sister. An abduction starts to seem likely. There are some humorous lines but also violence, often done by our protagonists as the-tough-guy-way-to-get-answers. The friends trust each other implicitly, but even after a decade or two they obviously still don't know all there is to know about each other. There are some elementary typos and punctuation mistakes, fairly easy to ignore and keep on reading.
