About Stacy Juba

Stacy Juba got engaged at Epcot Theme Park and spent part of her honeymoon at Disneyland Paris, where she ate a burger, went on fast rides, and threw up on the train ride to the hotel. In addition to working on her new Storybook Valley chick lit/sweet romance series, Stacy has written books about ice hockey, teen psychics, U.S. flag etiquette for kids, and determined women sleuths. When she’s not visiting theme parks with her family, (avoiding rides that spin and exotic hamburgers) or writing about them, Stacy helps authors to strengthen their manuscripts through her Crossroads Editing Service. This short story is well-written. I didn't really find it believable but that doesn't mean it is a bad story. I'm not really sure if this qualifies as a mystery (as there is no detective work involved) but it's entertaining if one likes the answer spelled out with no clues provided in the story.

I thought I was getting a book; instead it's a nine page sample, about the length of a short magazine article. The story got a little goofy at the end when the husband is bouncing all around the room while Dennis is strangling his wife and Dennis doesn't even hear him. I'd be generous in giving it a 3.5 rating but the system doesn't allow for that.

This short story shows off Stacy Juba's excellent skills with mystery writing. I was reminded of how much I loved her two novels and I hope she hurries up with number three!

Intrigue, murder mystery, suspense (and suspenders!). What more could you ask for from a short story? This story will grab your attention, pull in you in, keep you guessing. Most of all, it will entertain you. When Stacy Juba describes a character's emotions you can almost feel them yourself. If you're not familiar with this author's writing there are also sample chapters from her novels included as a bonus feature in this free download, and a Q & A with the author. A riveting read.
