About the Series: Machine Girl
Machine Girl is a series of science fiction novels that revolve around the life of an eighteen year old girl who is implanted with a cybernetic spinal column that interfaces with her brain. The machine influences the girl and the girl influences the machine and the results are beyond what the project's architects could have anticipated. When Victoria Scott, a high school senior with a bright future is struck by a rare form of bone cancer she undergoes a controversial and invasive treatment. Instead of chemotherapy, her spine is removed and replaced by a sophisticated, robotic prosthetic with an A.I. that plugs directly into her brain stem. The funding for the research and implementation of the technology has wide ranging sources that vary in legality and intent, some of them wishing to collect the results for their own purposes. On top of being a sought-after commodity, she begins to experience strange things that she suspects have something to do with her new hardware.

Awesome author, awesome books. I love how well he is able to write a young woman as a strong main character without all the smut you see in other books.
