About J. E. Rogers

Jeanne is the Author of The Sword of Demelza, a multi award-winning middle grade fantasy, and The Gift of Sunderland, her second animal fantasy. Always a lover of reading and writing, Jeanne decided to combine her love of writing, her concern for the environment and her dedication to promoting the need to protect wildlife, into a new career. Thus, the Australian Fantasy Adventures were born.

In her first book, The Sword of Demelza, she introduces young readers to many of the endangered animals of Australia. The anthropomorphized animal heroes in the book are set on their feet and sent out on a wonderfully imaginative adventure. A glossary at the back of the book provides information about the flora and fauna pressed between the pages. The Sword of Demelza, has been honored with a Gold Medal from Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, a Gold Honoree from Benjamin Franklin eBook Awards, and Honorable Mention from Writer’s Digest eBook Awards, just to mention a few.

Her second book, The Gift of Sunderland, won first place in Purple Dragonfly Children's Book Awards, for both the print and the eBook versions. A glossary has been created for this book as well, and provides information and web links so the reader can read more about the unusual animals, places and plants found within the story.

Jeanne takes great pleasure in giving a presentation about Australia and endangered animals to children in schools, museums and libraries. She also manages a blog on which she writes about unusual and threatened animals around the world. She would like children to understand that people are connected with animal life on the planet, and we share our world with them. It is therefore our responsibility to protect them.

Jeanne is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University, and can be found on all social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Goodreads, Google+, among others. She is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, Association of Independent Authors, APSS, IBPA, Alli, and SCBWI.
