Review by: PL Hayes on March 18, 2017 :
The book is a little non-standard, and doesn't fit easily into a single genre. At first I thought it was a romance, then I thought it might be young adult, then it seemed like a space opera. In the end, I think it is kind of its own thing with elements of all of these.

The authors' voice comes through clearly and the plot moves along well. The characters are easy to understand, and their motivations are fairly clear. They are drawn from standard archetypes and represent the things those archetypes typically represent. Many of them are likable. The villain is appropriately detestable, though his motivations seem a bit hard to relate to.

All in all, I finished the book, and it didn't drag. It is not my usual in terms of reading selections, but I enjoyed it in the main. Some things are a little weak, but considering it is the authors' first published work, it is a strong effort.

I really enjoyed this book. It's well written, the plot moves quickly and to me, it is a fresh take on the genre. A good first effort.
