Murderous Little Darlings is a darling little novella that I had trouble getting out of my head. The ending didn't disappoint and left a nagging hunger to continue with book two of "A Tale of Vampires Series,” knowing that more twists and unpredictability in the plot will unfold as well.
An enjoyable read that follows sympathetic characters of three eleven-year-old into eternity triplets, one girl, and two boys completely differing in personalities, ideals, and methods of survival as vampires—or are they?
I have to admit I was pretty engrossed in the lives of Marcus, Rocco, and Juliana, if "lives," is the right word IF they are vampires. Wow, what a perspective. Thank goodness there are more books in the series. The age of the vampires suggests the series will last a long time with plenty of adventures for them to go through. However we might not see them grow up like in the Harry Potter series.
The A grade writing combined with an original vampire plot will satisfy fan fiction groupies and literary fans alike. Even the use of some words like "whilst" interchangeable for "while" did not come across pretentious in Hennessy's writing style.
I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy sprinkled throughout, peeping through the darkness at just the right time like with the subtle references to vampiric virgins. The mild horror of blood and gore wasn't lost in the plot driven story setting up the beginning of the series with many more twists and turns to come as we follow the lives of the triplets surrounded by commotion.
