As an avid female diver, I always look for a good sea story with a strong female protagonist,…(which means I don’t find them very often at all, except for Remi Fargo from the Cussler series, of courese). I was also growing pretty tired of the one (male) CIA agent that saves the world,…so I was happy to find “Bone Crushing Deep” and Li Ping – THIS is a girl I can get behind!! Darrow’s unusual techno-thriller, adventure novel is definitely unique, since no one has ever used a deep sea diving team as the main protagonists. They are (to say the least) unusual characters, set in very dangerous situations….and (BONUS) they HATE the CIA.
Darrow’s storytelling style is simple but pretty enjoyable (and the dialogue sounds realistic). The quips and jokes had me laughing (out loud, sometimes) and the suspenseful operations held my attention until the end
I highly recommend Darrow’s first book and look forward more, strong female team members on the Tube.

Darrow hits a homer on his first time at bat. Does not disappoint! Authentic character portrayal and thoroughly believable technology stretch akin H.G.Wells made for a great, engaging and exciting read. At times took me back to my own personal experiences both as a USNA Midshipman and Submariner. Bravo Zulu, Mark! Looking forward to the next Noah Pike adventure!

Having read the book on my friend's tablet while underway, I immediately headed over to smashwords to purchase it myself! As a Submariner, I was laugh out loud amused at the accurate portrayal of the unique individuals in the submarine community. Equal parts crazy, funny, and kooky, Mr. Darrow perfectly captures the essence of being a submariner.
Featuring a compelling story with a dynamic main character that embodies the good qualities of Naval leadership, this book is a clever mix of Cussler and Clancy. It grabbed my attention at the beginning and didn't let go until the end.
I can't wait to see where Noah Pike goes next, and look forward to the next adventure!

Well fellow campers and divers alike if you’ve longed for the Hero’s we grew with set your mind at ease.

There’s a new kid on the block or in this case down near the coral heads and at the bottom of the briny deep that would make the likes of Randolph Scott & John Wayne tip their hats and buy Noah Pike a round while the rest of Noah’s crew lock horns with the nefarious evil doers we face today.

I was lucky enough to be able to have a sneak peak or rather a pre-read of this novel and it is for the lack of better or more refined reviewers verbiage & fluff-n-stuff.. OUTSTANDING!!
You’ll not be disappointed nor be let down for this is time well spent as you follow Noah into the “Bone Crushing Deep” that is his arena.

As a French Cussler fan and "beta reader", my review should be something like "wow"...

Should you like accurate technothrillers, immersive and gripping stories anchored in reality and actuality, and the thrill of deep deep sea, do NOT hesitate!

Brain catching style, humor is not an option either.

Mark is a GREAT writer

A must read!

Hope many more to come :-)

Finally, a sea adventure worthy of the Clancy and Cussler genre. Darrow has tapped into real time conflicts that pit action against intellect on a stage rarely seen…the deep ocean floor.
Timely (limited) flashbacks to Viet Nam era were an effective way to explain Noah Pike’s unusual character and connect a secretive backstory. Engrossing writing style, great character development, and lots of humor made me snicker, chuckle, or LMAO several times.
Unique technical touches and compliance to history make the characters easy to like and enjoy. Good balance between the narrative and necessary ocean/diving procedural descriptions. Content is unique and distinctive from all the other routine “rogue CIA agent” books out there today. Very enjoyable read!
