About stewartgiles

Stewart Giles was born in Middlesbrough, England in 1972. After spending four years studying English at three different Universities and graduating from none of them he set off travelling and finally settled in South Africa. In 2013, the first in a series of detective thrillers, 'Smith' was published to critical apathy. There followed a short spell of inspirational hiatus but in 2014, two more novels in the series, 'Boomerang' and 'Ladybird' were published in quick succession. 'Occum's Razor', the fourth in the series was released six months later. The Detective Sergeant Jason Smith series is fast becoming a firm favourite with murder mystery freaks and thriller trolls alike.

About a hundred rather good pages followed by an author's rush to finish the tale. Too bad. Perhaps the next Smith adventure will show improvement.

An enjoyable whodunnit. As the tale unfolds we learn and understand the motive/s behind the primary crimes. A secondary major crime gets introduced, via a deus ex machina subplot. This crime and its consequences can be a theme for later books. The solutions for the first crimes took some time getting solved, with bickering and blustering amongst colleagues. Chance meetings, however, quickly cast light over the secondary theme coupled with a mixture of serendipity and excessive violence to a kind person.
