Carmela Curatola Knowles is a Technology Integration Specialist at the Armenian Sisters Academy in Southeastern, Pennsylvania. Previously a Gifted Support Teacher and Elementary Technology Teacher in two different public school systems , she is also a certified Instructional Technology Specialist in Pennsylvania. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, a Master’s in Business Administration from Villanova University, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. She is certified in Business and Computer Information Technology K-12, Instructional Technology Specialist K-12 and Library/Media Sciences and has been a Pennsylvania Keystone Integrator since 2006. Mrs. Curatola Knowles participated as a MAGPI Fellow with the University of Pennsylvania’s Mid Atlantic Gigapop in Philadelphia for Internet2 during the 2009-2010 school year, focusing on the use of video conferencing technology to support Global Studies curriculum at both the secondary and elementary levels. She has co-developed and has run several after school Lego Robotics Enrichment Programs for 4th and 5th grade students.. She was a co-winner of Second Place 2012 SIGOL Online Learning Award, and a Highly Commended 2010 SIGOL Online Learning Award from ISTE and has co-presented innovative technology projects at local, state, and national conferences, including ISTE and the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Microsoft Innovative Educator Forums. Additionally, an article she wrote with her colleague Kathleen M. Krupa titled “Scientific Inquiry through Nature and Technology” was published in the August, 2010 edition of ISTE’s Learning and Leading with Technology. She is also a member of The Philadelphia Zoo’s Teacher Advisory Council.
