About James Hold

"First you're an unknown, then you write one book and you move up to obscurity." — Martin Meyers

I published my first book in 2004. It became an immediate collector's item. I know this for a fact as I have several hundred copies collecting dust in my attic. Critics everywhere said it belonged right up there between Ernest Hemingway and Robert E Howard—on an alphabetical bookshelf.

My influences include Rocky & Bullwinkle, 1950s sci-fi movies, and silver-age comics.

I live in Texas with my Princess wife, and cats Rocky and Dusty. You can contact me at

Loved this sentence: Earlier that day someone commented how spring showers make everything come up out of the ground. "I'm sure the guys at a cemetery will be thrilled," he had responded.

Spoiler: I kinda of feel the story didn't end, more because it has a sad ending, but what can I say it was a great read, I'm sure the moster was finally defeated, so entertaining.

So much political incorrectness here, all about cover-ups and trying to appease lobbying groups. Loved that the Mayor and council man were named after the Three Stooges.

This story was funny. I appreciated the commentary on bureaucracy and business, especially the Empty Calorie Lobby. The solution to dealing with the monster was also entertaining.
