The Sue Evans Fund for Families was set up following the devastating 2009 bushfires in Victoria, Australia, where 173 people lost their lives.
Sisters do not come much closer than Sue Evans and Carolyn Westall. They shared their lives and their dreams. Their hearts were sufficiently full as to look to the needs of others. Sue tragically died in the Black Saturday bushfires, which were the worst in Australia’s history and have had a devastating impact across Victoria. Sue and Carolyn were going to start a charity together before the bushfires. To make their dream a reality, Carolyn has taken the baton alone and is following through on their planned dream with the Sue Evans Fund for Families.
Carolyn said: “We would like to be able to help the community in this way, in memory of Sue and her beautiful family.
Our first priority was to raise $25,000 for this book. Thanks to many generous donors we have achieved this. After the first volume, we realised there was a need for a book for families experiencing traumatic grief. Surviving Traumatic Grief Volume 2 For Families was published in 2012. All of the profits from these books will be used to set up a healing centre to help people through traumatic grief following disasters and to support struggling families to prevent postnatal depression.”
Publishing both books in ebook format will hopefully bring them to a wider audience and help make the dream of creating a healing centre become reality.
