An American-Basque shepherd boy and his younger brother face-down wolves and a cougar in this Americanization of the tale of the "Boy Who Cried Wold." More
Peio and his younger brother Eztebe are the American-born children of Basque immigrants. The boys live in Oregon with their family around the turn of the 20th Century. Peio and his brother descend from families of Basque sheepherders and were raised to be sheepherders. Knowing that there are predators like wolves and cougars lurking to attack his flock, Peio does not like sheep-herding alone in Oregon's Mutton Mountains. In his first adventures sheepherding without adults, Peio raises the alarm of predators. The alarm brings out the adults of his family to assist him. Yet, does Peio really need the help from the adults of his family?
