In August 2012 I was informed that I probably had months, not years, to live due to a late diagnosis of cancer. This book chronicles my journey into a lasting recovery, something that was deemed very unlikely at the time.
Thankfully late stage cancer is fast losing its deadly reputation, thanks to the new combination chemotherapies which can target the specifics of the many different cancers.
I feel that many of us finding ourselves in impossible situations are able to draw on an inner strength we were not aware existed within us. There are many today who have written about situations they have managed to overcome. Situations which may once have been thought impossible to overcome. This book discusses the work of those people and the work of some great spiritual people such as Peace Pilgrim, C.F Andrews and Goi Sensei, all eminent in the mid twentieth century and also the work, in more recent times of people like Masami Sensei and Simon Peter Fuller.
All these great souls have dedicated their lives to helping others achieve greater awareness, understanding, spirituality and health in their lives. ‘Swallows in the Day (Bats in the Night)’ is an uplifting and inspiring body of work, because I believe more than anything at this time,we need to lighten up.
Despite any difficult situation we find ourselves in, life is to be enjoyed and celebrated. More than anything my recent journey has taught me this and I invite you to share it with me.
