Rated 5.00/5 based on 1 reviews
London 1899. The Prince of Wales' New Year’s Eve ball is in full swing when several explosions shatter the festivity. Were they an attempt to assassinate the heir to the throne or, as it seems, intended for Mycroft Holmes himself? About Anna Lord

Anna Lord has long been fascinated by myth and metaphor, and the way they inform human thought. With an English and Philosophy degree focused on metaphysical poets and logical thinking there was only one creative avenue for her to follow: two rational detectives battling to make sense of a superstitious gas-lit world.

Anna's Ukrainian background, coupled with a love for whodunnits, Victorian settings, and Gothic characters, inspires her literary world and makes the books a joy to write.

The result is her new series: Watson and the Countess.

This the 8th book in the series which I have read and it does not disappoint.
The twists and turns are handled as effortlessly as in the previous books.
I had the murder all picked out. I really thought I beat Ms Lord at her own game, only to come crashing down once again at the end.
Perfect. I am pleased that with this latest effort she is keeping the memory of Arthur Conan Doyles legacy in tact.
I just wish I could just pick 'who done it' just once!
Could not and did not put it down until I was finished.
