I loved this book & fantasy series so far. Have read 1 & 2, anticipating 3 now that I've found it. Series is exciting & unexpected action. Plot twists abound can never guess what might happen. Attached to characters & look forward to seeing happens with them. Bestselling potential/must read if you like modern fantasy.

I found this book to be a very interesting mix of fantasy inside of a current-day setting on earth, not some other world or midevil times. The storyline is good though somewhat confusing at times but I enjoyed following the main characters as they try and figure out who and what they are and how to control their unusual gifts. I will be reading the second book in this series.

Gripping storyline, foundational character build was unexpectedly stellar for new author, and ending suspense makes me crave more. Next 5 books promise upcoming adventure, and this author actually delivers. Ember Fantasy Series has bestselling potential, a must read!

Good first book, protagonist introduced and well developed, brother is overly protective and anxious. Locked me in, I'm ready to read next. Trailer for #2 exciting. Plot entertaining and ends well. Liked sneak peak at end.

Just finished -great read, enjoyed, ends on suspenseful cliffhanger. Book 2 isn't out yet.
Gypsies are cool so it captured my attention. First novel I've ever read that meshes fantasy, mystery with familiar culture. Fantasy is saturated with vamps. This book was a refreshing change. No mythical creatures just normal people with supernatural powers. New culture was interesting twist.
I envisioned Tray as obsessively protective, parental & secretive. Ember seems socially awkward, sheltered & intelligent. Their constant moving would keep her from developing friendships & book smart people are usually strange & aloof. Characters were realistic IMO.
The book ended on a cliffhanger & no date listed for book 2. That was irritating. I normally wait & read complete series. This was free so I downloaded w/o checking first. I want to keep reading now. The author gives hints of big things coming but a specific date would be better -not as frustrating.
Indie authors should be supported. I'm an avid reader & get tired of reading whatever happens to be 'in'. This website is great. Indie offers variety. Interesting read, I would suggest if you like fantasy, supernatural & mystery.

I liked the story but, I felt the charectors were wrong. (This is a little spoiler)
They both moved out into the world at a young age and moved around a lot. That should have made them more mature than they were portrayed. Ember was said to be very book smart on top of that but, she acted like a ditzy ten or twelve year old and her brother was barely better. I don't have a problem with the content of the story just that it does not match they're background. The male charector should have less flighty thoughts and brood on a single problem more. Something like he has a problem and he thinks of multiple ways to solve it. He can even sound out his idea's to someone trusted. His panic attacks/shocks should be internal also. I not telling the author how to write her book but, I think with some tweaking it would be more enjoyable.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Book 1 of this series. The author introduces most of the characters in Rising Light which helps me as the reader to really get to know the characters. I love the way the story line becomes more in depth early on in the book. As I finished with Ember Rishing Light, I became very anxious to continue on with Ember Shadow Falls. I do believe this series will continue towards becoming a smash hit among scifi readers. I would recommend it to anyone to try.
