Nourished is inspired by the recipes that I love to cook at home for myself, son, girlfriend and friends. The recipes are designed to be straight-forward, easy to follow and super yummy. We have somewhat lost touch with the connectiveness of food and how cooking can bring us together. My motivation is to make cooking at home, easy, enjoyable and rewarding for Australians. The recipes don’t require much prep time as I’m conscious that many of us are time poor, but set some time aside when cooking and use it to have time-out from technology, an opportunity to spend time with loved ones and put love in the dish. Nourished is packed full of recipes that embrace wholefoods and ingredients that allow us to thrive.
By following these recipes you’ll get a real sense of my philosophy around food and nutrition, a philosophy born out of my childhood and life as a PT/Health Coach. My childhood was spent in the UK, and more importantly in the many pubs my folks ran in and around London for nearly 40 years. My mum and dad wanted to offer more than jellied eels, pickled eggs and warm beers, instead they focused on offering robust, hearty meals for their customers. So growing up I was lucky enough to be around ‘unusual’ food such as kidneys, liver, oxtail but more importantly fresh wholefoods. Only recently have I come to realise the value and importance of eating these ‘unusual’ foods and how fresh wholefoods aren’t on the landscape for many of us in the modern world.
