Within my role working within a child protection team I have seen and continue to witness instances of child abuse and exploitation. Sadly sometimes the children are victims for their own nievity and sometimes through peer pressure. However, there are also many victims where things could have been done to prevent the heartache and suffering. There are opportunities though for parents to engage with their children and look for the signs which may prevent things going wrong. It may prevent their child becoming a victim or becoming a criminal. Like wise professionals including teachers, youth workers, social workers etc have the opportunity to identify when children are at risk and provide support, reassurance and sound advice which can help the children to avoid being victims or criminals.
My book is all about providing parents, children and professionals with advice and guidance to become more savvy around online safety and just some of the consequences of getting it wrong. My book includes a section for children. I have provided an account based on a real incident and I hope that the information provided might prevent some children becoming the next victim.
