About Dain White

I think it's fair to say at this point that I am hooked, through and through, on writing. It's such a massive process, all-encompassing and so unbelievably rewarding. The story churns inside of me, endlessly tugging at the tips of my fingers, pulling me inexorably towards the keyboard, a minion to my muse.

Your kind words of support, sharing my books with your friends, family, and even (and most especially) random strangers... this is what fuels my fire. To think that I have become enthralled by the act of writing, creating a moment of imagination, that's just part of the equation. You are the other part, and the only part that matters in the end.

Without you, none of this would have any purpose, and for that, I thank you.

Archaea by Dain White is a fast paced, sci-fi adventure, presented in a rather unique way. At first, I had a hard time getting my head around the first person narratives, delivered by a diverse cast, but eventually it grew on me. The story, a deep space "road trip" is delivered playfully with wit and an honest respect for reality: gravity (or the lack thereof, for instance), although something called pseudo mass comes into play with FTL travel, but White actually makes it almost believable. Overall, Archaea is a fun read that will leave you wanting more.

When I saw Bobb B's review, I was surprised. In my opinion, two stars is absolutely ridiculous for this novel.

Archaea is just a great book. I found it intelligent, entertaining, engaging and very immersive. I thought it was very well written, and definitely told in the classic style of the old science fiction serial adventures.

Despite the fact it is a series, I loved that this was a complete story. I didn't feel like the story was cut off to try and hook me into reading the next book - actually, I want to read the next book simply because this story was so well crafted and entertaining!

Personally, I loved this story. I felt like I was part of the crew, and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Hopefully the other books in the series stand up to my expectations, I am afraid they are pretty high at this point.

I really can't recommend this book enough. I'd actually go so far as to say that this might become one of my favorite books. Five stars is not enough - you really need to read this book!

Re-review of the book, first 5 star was before I finished the book.
The epilogue put it down with the trite pulp sci-fi ground out for the masses.
No longer wish to read the other three books in series.
Would have been a wonderful story if not for the direction it took.
