This book really touched me, as I also have a stray cat (a torby), that adopted me, and I can not imagine losing her.. Few things bring tears to my eyes, but man, i can see what you are going through... Cats are like people, they choose to love us...

As the author's sister, reading My Boney Girl offered me a view of a side of my brother I'd only glimpsed in the past. MBG is the tribute- sometimes humorous, often painful, always tender- of a plainspoken, self-described "regular guy" to his beloved companion. Through her best days and her last months, his grief of unforeseen depth, and the telling of their story, I believe Jim comes to realize not just the intensity of his love for Boney but also of his capacity to love. I've read MBG many times through and still return to certain passages and phrases that tug at my heart- for Jim, for Boney, and for the sweetness of their unexpected relationship.

This is a book that is full of love, it seeps between the words and flows into the heart of the reader. Boney really must have been a very special cat. This happens sometimes, you have lots of pets and you love them all but then, if you a really lucky, the once in a lifetime one enters your life. The drawback is the pain you feel when they leave you. I have no hesitation in awarding five stars and recommending it to all pet lovers.
