Wow! Something for everyone! "The Imminence of Flight" was definitely prize-worthy!! How well the question "Are you okay?" sums up what Philip Levine describes as simple and true, like salt, water or light. "Cancer and Harry Potter Magic" is a warm-hearted read that deals with cancer and a child's obsession with magic. "Rebirth of the Big Top" is such a delightful creative tale, as simple as adding a lime to lemonade. "Her Mother's Ghost" is a haunting story that lingers after the protagonist has found the answer to her lifelong quest about her father. The short short "Cigarettes and Birdhouses" is hilarious. "We're Standing on a Shallow Sea," a most lovely read. Many poems are thought-provoking but the simple "God Bless" and "You Are Not Here" made me smile. "Line of Scrimmage" and "Each Photograph That You Take of Me" warmed my heart. Yet "Maximum Effective Range" was the most chilling. All in all, something for every mood. Talented writers in this anthology!
