About Sarah Woodbury

With two historian parents, Sarah couldn't help but develop an interest in the past. She went on to get more than enough education herself (in anthropology) and began writing fiction when the stories in her head overflowed and demanded she let them out. While her ancestry is Welsh, she only visited Wales for the first time while in college. She has been in love with the country, language, and people ever since. She even convinced her husband to give all four of their children Welsh names.

With over 350,000 books sold, Sarah is the author of 19 novels and 2 novellas, all set in medieval Wales.
She makes her home in Oregon.

These novels deserve more than a 5. We're talking well thought out science, detailed and accurate history and culture, believable and attractive characters, and rocking good adventure (without the "Perils of Pauline" effect).

I really enjoyed these books. My knowledge of thirteenth century Wales comes from Sharon Kay Penman's novels, and these felt like logical sequels (except, of course, that history diverged from the history that we know). The stories were easy to follow but not too simplistic. The characters had to make hard decisions and deal with the consequences.

I hope Ms. Woodbury writes a sequel to this - I'd love to know what happens to Llywelyn's daughter Gwenllian in this alternate history.
