About Michelle Moreland

Michelle Moreland was born in Chicago Illinois in 1989. As an innocent child, she could have never imagined the tumultuous direction her life would take. From starting life in a broken home, to unimaginable situations that a child should never have to endure, she faced many obstacles. At an early age, she was a child of the system, a foster child that was bounced from place to place unable to have a sense of stability or security, this caused her to feel all alone in the world. Struggling to find herself as well as dealing with obstacles and hardships proved to be an everyday challenge. Now 27, a single mother to two amazing sons, her struggles continue as she tries to overcome the obstacles life has thrown her way while still coping with a traumatic upbringing that clearly has tried to tear her down, but because of her strength to succeed she has not allowed it. Through her life experiences she hopes to help others in similar situations. Michelle strives to be an inspiration to others who feel as she once did, to show others that no matter what life throws at you, you are not alone, you too can choose your own destiny and better yourself. Her new book titled "Secrets Change" is an emotional and heartfelt collection of poetry that allows her to inspire and give hope to others.

Wonderful book. I downloaded it in June and then lost my Kindle. I got a new one last week and finally read the entire book. These poems are filled with inspiring emotion. I couldn't put it down. An intriguing read. I wish this was also in book form because it would be a lifetime keeper.

I've known Michelle since 4th grade and we quickly became close friends until this day. Her book of poetry is very beautiful and deep. It really shows the struggles she went though and really paints an emotional picture for the readers to understand what she went through. Each poem is filled with inspiring words to help others who may relate to her, seek strength and to keep moving forward. I loved this book and loved the way Michelle was able to really put her thoughts and heartfelt emotions down on paper. This was great!

Dear Michelle:
I always review the new books on smashwords and to my surprise, your name and title came up on the poetry section. I was standing still, in shock, and saying out loud "Not the Michelle Moreland I used to know"!! Reading the bio - it confirmed it is you. I downloaded the book and read your poetry. Michelle, I am so proud of you and your determination to put such emotional sets of talented poetry together to footprint and image your true and past life. I highly recommend that you someday write a real life biography of your entire life from birth to now. One of the best Authors, Frank McCourt did just that - and his readers developed a whole view point in life. You and your upbringing and writing bring me to compare you to this author.

I was there when you were seven years old and witnessed the beginning of your journey to the darkness of your life. I was your neighbor and remember the small, free spirited little girl running through the park - not knowing the future or what will soon become against her.

Your poetry will inspire many inner-city youths, those in good fortune or less in fortune. Your book of poetry displays hope, reality and a strong message all together. Please accept my encouragement to go forward and write a second book. Open that door and do it. The world deserves to read it. Good job. Well stated! Keep going!
