Very enjoyable young adult fantasy novel. Young Kevin working as a summer intern on a drilling vessel is present when they hot something that starts disasters all around the world. Enter Caitlan, a mysterious young woman who says she knows whats going on. After she locates 17 year old Lizbeth and 18 year old Zach, they start on a quest to save the planet. Can't wait to read the rest of the series! Decent read and an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in the sun.

Melissa Conway has written this excellent book that has thrills around every corner. With its twists and turns, the characters learn of their magical powers and how it relates to an event that happened long ago. They weren't aware of these powers until a shapeshifter named Caitlin came into their lives right before the caios begins. Follow these characters as they learn how to use their powers and stop the world from ending as we know it.

Ever since a scientific research vessel, drilled into an ancient impact crater under the North Sea, the earth has been rocked by unexplained earthquakes & electromagnetic pulses. When a mysterious woman approaches 3 teenagers & tells them that she needs their help to save the world, they think she's crazy. But Kevin sees her change from an old woman to a beautiful young woman & back again, Lizbeth sees her change from a black woman, to a white woman & finally into a white jaguar, while for Zach the snack shop cashier girl that he's never seen before looks exactly like the drawing he has been working on of the main character for a friend's book. That's when things get really weird & they begin to believe that they can save the world, but only if they can locate an ancient crown that turns people into shapeshifters, that is if it doesn't kill them.

The Gossamer Sphere is a rollercoaster ride of sci-fi, fantasy & world apocalypse that you won't want to get off of. So climb on & hold tight for the ride of your life.

This is a BIG book. I didn't realize how big when I started it. I quickly became resentful of interruptions. Doomsday, end of world stuff. The paranormal element is what hooked me, but the intrigue and action kept me riveted. As soon as I'm finished posting this, II'm going to look for more books by Melissa Conway!
