Perfect Puppy Parenting: A Guide to Raising Your Puppy to be a Happy, Confident, Well-Behaved Adult Dog shares Jane's training experience and education, as well as the latest scientific research about dog behaviour.
Jane is passionate about canine behaviour and training. In a world where new puppy owners often find the puppy raising advice they are given to be confusing and conflicted, Jane takes a clear, common sense approach to shedding light on the best practices for choosing a new puppy, the stages of dog development, how to prepare for your puppy's arrival, socialization, stress, safety, choosing training professionals, understanding canine communication, avoiding unwanted behaviour, reward-based training, and games to play with your puppy.
In addition, there are check lists for ensuring you have what the puppy needs, daily routines, socialization, common hazards to puppies, and food and other materials toxic to dogs if eaten.
Dogs live in a culture that isn’t their own, operate in a language that isn’t their own, and are often misread and misunderstood. This in-depth guide will help you learn how to teach and communicate with your puppy with sensitivity and understanding, and ultimately, this guide will help you raise your puppy to be a happy, confident, well-behaved adult dog.
