About Arunima Mehrotra

Born in the mystic land of a thousand gods and vast sublime Landscapes, I am a production of India. Every since a kid I have been fascinated with literature. And bringing that fascination up to a level of passion is the reason I am right here, in front of all you good people. I cannot recall a time when I haven't been reading or writing. it seems at times, my entire existence is rolled up in the essence of literature.
Apart from this, my other forte is painting. They are quite eccentric, I admit, my fields of interest. But what can one do- when they have so much inside and no idea how to pour it out?

Arunima's book makes for a pleasant reading experience. I liked the fluidity and imagery that she is able to create with words in her poems to take the reader along for a 'car ride' or 'ocean swim' with her in her universe. Her grasp to capture and portray spectrum of emotions in poems like Scar , Queen , Strong people gives an insight of poetess sensitive and observant nature.
With regards to what could benefit from refinement:
I would recommend 1. to focus on balance between universality (poem dealing with human experience) vs Individuality (poem meaningful only to the poet) to keep a good mix of both entertainment value and appeal to the intellect of reader
2. Mechanics of poem - consciously avoiding overuse of clichés or overused imagery to keep each poem fresh and explore greater use word sounds via assonance and alliteration that create a mood.
Overall I was very impressed with this delightful collection and potential of poetess. Keep writing we are tuned in for more ..

Very nice collection of Poems. I am really impressed by the depth of Author to cover such a diverse topics. "Pressed flower" depicts emotions, "Mermaid" is full of imagination and "Strong People" is motivational. This collection is like rainbow of emotions. Keep it up, write more and keep on sharing with us.

"Corpes of love once breathing Love".... awesome lines which made me think the maturity and depth which you portrayed while writing this poem "A Queen". I liked all of your poems and it shows your passion you creativity towards writing. Just a small suggestion - In a series of poems try to club more types of poems - Epic, Couplet or Narrative...to keep the reader in guessing mode and have good hold till the end.
