About Martin Alvarez

Hello! I'm a Las Vegas born-and-raised writer. Most of my stories are a mix of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, and some with a dash of romance. My main theme is exploring human nature, thought processes, behavior, the ways that emotions cause us to act, and how we wonder why we exist or what it all means. I examine us in as many different and interesting ways as I can.

My main influences are Ray Bradbury, Clive Barker, H.P. Lovecraft, C.S. Lewis, Fredric Brown, and many others.

My other interests are listening to metal, ska, reggae, punk, and a wide array of other music; cooking and trying new foods, exploring nature, watching Adventure Time, haunting the isles of local used book stores, and of course, sleeping like a sloth.

Sidenote: I will occassionally write love stories under the pen name, Victor Rose.

Review by: Bert Simmons on June 20, 2016 :
A fantastic array of horror and sci-fi short stories that will reel you in and leave you with just enough ambiguity so that you can come up with your own interpretation of the story and/or conclusion about the ending. The author has such an incredible imagination and transfers this into writing so seamlessly. He makes use of such vivid imagery, and creates such relatable characters, it was hard to not finish the stories in one sitting. I definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone that loves animated and dynamic tales.

A great collection of horror / sci-fi tales including a wolf-man, zombies, ghost bombs, a scary trip aboard a decrepit ship at sea, and a dreamy-nightmare trip on a train across weird lands . . . and several other tales. Worth a read if you like mind bending horror.
