I liked this story. The basic premise of a wizard and an empath on a mission together is interesting and it works well here. The miscommunication between the two characters seemed odd, but it added to the quirky nature of the story. The protagonist was a bit judgmental (her comments on the wizard's fashion and her Brad Pitt impression rubbed me the wrong way), but she wasn't necessarily presented as right or wrong, so it worked.
