About Fawn Moran

I lived in the heart of the Castro district in San Francisco when the AIDS epidemic mushroomed around me. I watched young men vanish from the neighborhood. Deeply concerned about patients' rights and safety, I volunteered at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation in 1983 and wound up in their new marketing department, where I helped produce and distribute AIDS educational materials throughout the US. In 1990 I started a small publishing and distribution company with a friend and colleague—Timothy McGinn—who died of AIDS four years into our venture. I soldiered on until 1999. I moved to Sonoma County in 2000 and started working for the local AIDS network, where I managed a residential care facility for people with AIDS until its funding ended. Afterward I served as an Executive Assistant. The epidemic steered the course of my life for 22 years.

I’m now working to end homelessness, if not in the US as a whole, then in the bucolic California country-side in which I live, where several thousand people each year become homeless, many for years at a time. In 1995, I founded the One World Peace Foundation, an online educational resource to foster progressive world change and human understanding based on an unshakeable respect for truth, peace and freedom.
