About Mark Whitten

Mark Whitten is an author, speaker, and teacher in south central Tennessee. He and his beautiful wife Julie share in the joys and trials of raising their five children.

After graduating from Samford University in 1999, Mark served as an overseas missionary traveling to 6 continents and over 20 nations mobilizing missionaries and training indigenous leadership. Mark returned from the foreign mission field in 2005 and pursued a career in the public school system where he currently teaches 8th grade American History. He was ordained as a priest in the Anglican tradition and spent a brief time as a bi-vocational minister before stepping down from active priesthood to focus on his family and writing career. Mark sees himself as a bridge builder between Protestant Evangelicals, the Prophetic Movement and the more ancient expressions of the church. He is also champion for young adults and educators!

Mark enjoys coffee, reading, writing, epic films, hunting, fishing, coming up with new business ideas, and riding his motorcycle.
