Bernadette is a registered psychologist living and working in Dublin, Ireland. The people she sees are referred to her by their general medical practitioners. For many of them, fear and worry are the main issues that get in the way of their being able to face the challenging and changing circumstances in their lives.

Their fear and worry usually comes from their style or pattern of thinking. A style or pattern of thinking that is typically faulty. This faulty thinking style involves a tendency to ‘disasterise’ the future, which is in effect, a habit of focusing on the worst case scenario or worst case outcome that is possible. It includes lots of ‘what ifs’. “What if it doesn’t work out”? “What if I can’t handle it,” etc. In Bernadette’s experience those kinds of faulty thinking habits can cause a great deal of anxiety and distress in people’s lives.
