The Old Man in the Hospital

Rated 5.00/5 based on 6 reviews
Another short simple memoir from my life. In this very short story, I find myself stuck in the hospital, sharing a room with an irate and bitter old man. Location: Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Texas. Warning...contains a few uses of profanity. More

About Van Allen

Van Allen Fiction by Screaming Weasel Productions is my latest work. I'm a former Captain in the US Marines who now writes thrillers and futuristic adventures, including stories with conspiracy theories, alien invasions, space wars, and of course the zombie apocalypse. In my 21-year military career, I developed expertise in both combat training early on and then criminal investigations later on. While in the Marines, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Originally from Houston, Texas and currently residing in Frisco, Texas, I fancy myself a secret physics, statistics, and data nerd. I'm also known today for being a part-time tennis strategy and coaching genius…by my kids…sometimes.

MOVING...5 stars is not enough. I'll share this story every chance I get. As a nurse, it's good to know that people care about us too. I finally had a chance to listen to Bob's Short Story podcast for his reading of Van's book. It's free to download it as an audio file.

This is a great short story. Maybe one of the best I've read on Smashwords. I need to share this with my friends and family. It's just that good. Once in a while you can find really talented writers on Smashwords. I would like to see what else VA has written. I'm so impressed.
