Reviews of The Island by Madison Barry

Darrell Lloyd Mackenzie reviewed on July 25, 2022

Unrelenting, often brutal, systematic, with graphic details. The exacting billionaire at the core of this series of character studies is willing to spend years assembling the team to fulfill his exotic dream. He is certainly seductive, in more ways than one, even as he ages.
He definitely doesn’t accept no for an answer, yet he does run into some upheavals along the way. How much is he willing to sacrifice in the tradeoffs? I do appreciate an undertow rather than an uncontested fantasy. And, yes, there’s some heartbreak.
The idea of an island for erotic adventures is hardly new in the literature, but this tale does promise to develop in fresh perspectives in the subsequent series.
