"It would have been developed anyway. Our little team just sped it up by a couple of years.”

On an isolated campus in the far North, researchers develop a device that triggers instant euphoria by stimulating the brain’s pleasure centers. Once it’s in the wild, there will be no more need for narcotics and no way to control the spread of addiction.

Really enjoyed this. It's a well written short story basically about taking the psychological underpinnings of addiction and imagining a non-drug based way of creating euphoria. Highly recommended.

Psychoactive Cafe is a terrific read! Paula connects her excellent, and very subtle, sense of humour with astute social commentary in a futuristic examination of psychedlic happiness, or is that just escape? If you wonder at all about human happiness this book will take you on a great ride. I recommend it highly.
