Back in the 70’s there were a group of traders called The Turtles. They were ordinary people that an astute trader trained to follow a simple set of rules for trend following. Seemingly counter-intuitive but astonishingly successful the Turtles became famous, and rich. Essentially, what they were doing was breakout trading. In other words, when a stock got suddenly more expensive than it usually was, instead of selling it they bought it, when it got more expensive they bought more! Buy low, sell high didn’t apply, then again, it didn’t seem to be working for most. Over the intervening decades the technique of trading stocks that are suddenly being propelled in one direction has been refined and honed into the process described in Persic’s trading guide. It’s an easy read with lots of charts and trade examples, not to mention flow-charts that lay out the decision making process of what and how to trade with the cold precision of a computer program. Don’t worry, it’s not a computer program, what it is is a set of rules that take the emotion out of trading and provide an edge. I appreciate Persic’s straight forward and brief explanation of the essentials of a trading technique he uses as a professional trader and instructor. There’s no extra baggage (or verbiage, theories, speculation) here, just to pad the page count. This is a real trading manual. I’m impressed!
