Not overly good, bad or original. I will try another book by the author.

From the book: '“As I said before,” Quinton tweeted back ... “I’m waiting for something special.”'

Oh Quinton, aren't we all? Stories of the non-human serve to elucidate for us new facets of being human. We shape the animal kingdom, and in turn, the animal kingdom shapes us. A Special Connection is a fragmentary examination of these themes, and while the writing suffers from some technical flaws, it tells its story with aplomb. Alas, these technical issues, along with considerable formatting problems, detract from an otherwise simple story with a lot of heart.

Something of a slog, but far from a waste of time.
