Review by: Stan Adelman on Oct. 21, 2016 :
I've read each of the books in this series and in the Donsai one. All are "5"'s. Unfortunately, when I start reading one, I literally have great difficulty putting it down. Then, when I've finished, I think to myself, "Maybe, if I'd read it more slowly, I could have savored it longer." Unfortunately, I'm just not able to do so. So now I have to wait until another book comes out in either series.

The characters in all the novels are exceptionally well crafted, and the pacing of each of the books is superb. I'm also fascinated by the author's "What if...." approach to science fiction. In my younger days I taught history, and enjoyed the using same technique in that field. What if, for example, Napoleon had not decided to invade Russia?

Do yourself an enormous favor and try the first book in either series!
