Review by: Marcyblau on May 25, 2012 :
The Cody Chronicles never failed me. It touched all areas of our humanity, or, as Cody might say, our inhumanity. Ms. Light has proven herself as adept at writing novels as she is writing award winning documentaries. In both, she reaches for the pieces that turn timid heads away and finds the greater truth with boldness, clarity, somberness and humor.

If you love a good doppelgänger story (and who doesn’t), then The Cody Chronicles is the perfect read. Allie Light’s story is poignant, sensitive (about the human and dog experience), and extremely funny. And I defy you not to be moved to tears of joy at the conclusion of this moving story. After you read this novel, you will undoubtedly say: “Wow, this would make a great movie!”

Ms. Light enters the “amazing” world of writers like the wonderful Fritz Lieber – entering a fantastic world that truly astounds the reader. The Cody Chronicles deserves a wider audience beyond the ebook realm. Check it out and tell your friends!

I will never again look at Wolfie, our Havanese puppy, again without wondering what he really thinks of his life with us humans!

The Cody Chronicles ALMOST convinces me that a "dog to human" metamorphosis is indeed possible. With the present scientific technologies hurtling forwad in leaps and bounds, perhaps in the not-so-distant future! The author, Allie Light, imagined this possibility even before ever hearing of transgender operations. This is more than a mere "flight into fantasy" tale. It questions our own moral perceptions. I remember how amused I was years ago when Allie told me that one of her dogs "committed suicide" (he had jumped over the fence on their front porch and plunged two stories down onto the pavement below). Allie wasn't joking! There is a certain pathos to think that the poor dog was unhappy, or mentally disturbed.

One reviewer described The Cody Chronicles as "sardonic" which implies that the tale's source is bitterly cynical. It is nothing of the sort. The author challenges us to reach into our innermost souls and be open to the sensibilities of all sensate beings.

This vivid page-turner illuminates a world of complex characters—(underscore complex) where man’s “best friend” is no longer just another family member. With an emotionally charged plot where science crosses all boundaries of right and wrong, Oscar and Emmy award-winner Allie Light brings us into a world of surprising twists and turns, sprinkled with sardonic humor and heart.
