About Rita Hestand

The big sale is over. And now I am in a position to have to change prices on some of my work. It's been a long time in coming, but it must be done. At 71 years old I support myself. I work very hard to bring good rather wholesome stories, and some steamy ones too. So, I've changed my prices on some of my books. All the children's short stories and adult short stories will be set at .99 cents. The Willy Books are set at $1.99. Novellas are $1.99. All my older books, Travers Brothers, Amory's, River River Valley Brides, and Mckays will stay set at $2.99. My newer Brides of the West, longer historicals, and mysteries have gone up to $3.99. Free books will come and go. Right now Broken Hearted a relatively new series Cowboy Lovin' Series is free, so take advantage of that one. This particular series is sensual. I'll run specials now and again on some books. I hope this doesn't upset anyone as I have checked to see prices on other authors books and I'm in line with most of them. Most of the box sets have stayed the same. The Western Serial Killers series has changed because these books take an enormous time to write and research and get into the villain's head. If you don't believe me, read Better Off Without Her. I've got new series planned, in both children's and adult. The Brides of the West will go on as long as I have a story to tell on those. But don't be upset about it, as all the stories are stand alones. You can read one, or all, but they are not connected. They are simply about how brides got married in the old west.I have a new boxset for Western Serial Killers Series, It called Western Serial Killer's Volumes One and Two. The books include Better Off Without Her and Ghost of Victor Frank, and these are connected. The second set will be out later, It will include Good Day for a Hanging and Bad Day for a Killing. These are extremely hard to write and take a while to finish. A lot of research goes into my books. Comes a Hero was powerfully full of research because it was such a confusing time in history for Texas. Unlike other states, Texas had a major threat going on with the Indians taking advantage of forts that were not manned well. The civil war breaking out at the time, cause even more confusion. Leadership changed like the direction of the wind. It is a real fact, that a lot of the western Texas forts were poorly manned because the Confederate Army sought to capture New Mexico Territory, which proved futile to their efforts and left Texas so under manned that the Indians raided constantly, the wagon trains, the mail carriers, and the freight wagons, along with the wagon trains. Ft Davis was an important part of keeping the El Paso road open. Without that road, the Confederates couldn't get to New Mexico easily. Just wanted to give you some background to the confusion that was going on.

Okay, before I say a word about my bio, let me state that my new line of children's stories, Issues, should be read by either a mother or father and child. The reason is there are lesson about life in them that if the child reads it and understands it, can help them along the way. At least that is my goal. Each issue concerns a life problem that we often meet along our journey. Children do not always understand these days what they should do, or how they should act about some things. Sitting down with your child or grandchild can be a fulfilling time. When Mom and Dad both work all the time, it's hard to relate the problems kids have. I hope these small stories help you to be able to talk to your children about things that confuse and scare them.

Now,I hate doing a bio. What can a person say about themselves that will really interest a reader. Writers are usually rather sedate people with large amounts of imagination, determination and gall. You wouldn't be interested in my education, it was a self learned process, often by the seat of my pants and making mistakes along life's way.

I've been married three times, the first lasted about three months, I was still wet behind the ears so to speak, but learned fast. The second lasted thirteen years and produced two lovely daughters, the third was to my true love, and lasted twenty-four years. Of all my husbands, the last one influenced my writing and gave me the encouragement I needed to be the writer I am today.

A writer writes a lot from personal inspiration, and lessons learned. Unknowingly we use life experiences to develop our imagination. I believe a true writer is spurred onward to write by what has been referred to as voices in our head. Those voices are stories waiting to be told. The stories come naturally to a true writer, not forced but from the movies in our heads that encourage us to put to pen what they want to say. Hopefully they inspire the readers, encourage them and bless them.

Comes a Hero and All My Yesterdays are out now. Comes a Hero is a Historical Western, set in Texas just before the Civil War breaks out. It is the 17th book of the Brides of the West series. All MY Yesterdays is a contemporary romance that is quite sensual. Next release coming in just a few days is Saving Sleeping Beauty, the fourth book of the Connor's Series. All the Connor books are sensual.
