Beautiful and heartwarming story

This well written story was a pleasant read and warmed my heart.
How can the reader not instantly fall in love with the main character, a sweat little girl named Beautiful who is always kind to everyone no matter how horribly they treat her. Although she is clearly loved by her family, the kids at school prefer to stay away from her. Beautiful is teased and bullied, mainly because of the fact that her eyes are different colours, and she does not understand why. She is so lifelike that you feel her sadness and almost want to go into the book to comfort her.
Beautiful's only friend is a girl named Sally until her older brother brings home a puppy for her. She names it Colby after her grandmother who passed away; the only friend she ever had aside from Sally.
Beautiful shared a very special bond with the puppy and was late for school one day because she lost track of time while spending time with her new best friend. Something horrible is done to her when she tried to enter the building, and I felt that the author did an excellent job at portraying everyone's reactions to it, just like she perfectly expressed all the characters' various emotions throughout the wonderful book.
Shortly after the incident, Beautiful becomes friends with a new neighbour who shows her how to stand up for herself and also teaches the neighbourhood kids how to play Stick-Ball. Unfortunately, something tragic happens during a game which made me gasp and also brought tears to my eyes.
The realistic story which contains drama is full of surprises.
The book is not long and flows very well. I read it in one sitting and absolutely adored every part of it.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. It will surely brighten up your day.
