So a Blind Guy Walked into a Maze
Manipulated and betrayed by everyone he meets, a blind and inexperienced kennelboy must find his own strength in order to survive. More
It's easy to be unaware, and it's easy to be manipulated while unaware. For a blind kennelboy who grew up under the shelter of a promise no one will explain, in the shadow of the palace of the most powerful empire in the known world, awareness is as scarce as manipulation is abundant.
Enter a privileged, entitled prince and his rich friends, seeking assistance of sorts for a long-planned hunt. Legends abound of a great monster at the edge of the northern wastes, expanses of ice and snow populated by scattered groups of people largely dismissed by their powerful southern neighbours. This prince is only interested in entertainment and glory, and sees no issue at all with lying to a naïve youth and dragging him across the continent to die as bait. Their plan works, too, and they abandon the kennelboy in a forest he can't see.
Nothing comes to devour him. Instead, he finds the courage to tackle his situation with logic and reason, and begins making his way onwards. After all, if he's still alive, then it is possible to stay alive. That is his goal: to stay alive. He will do what he must in order to stay alive. He must.
When a completely unrelated person takes advantage of him, however, and leaves him to either die or traverse a magical, heavily booby-trapped maze on his own, it might take more than stubbornness to survive - but his only chance of survival upon leaving that maze will require an all new form of willpower.
